Flint products from La Vayssière were excavated from a single archaeological layer. At least three occupation phases were identified based on types of raw materials. These phases belong to the Early Sauveterrian, the advanced Early Sauveterrian and the Monclusian groups. Through this kind of analysis, we were able to identify a range of behavioural variations and to determine the nature of the site, which we consider to be marginal as far as the exploitation of the environment is concerned. These results raise questions regarding the significance of the data collected through conventional stratigraphie excavation methods
