This paper would like to show how the Lusignan Kingdom of Cyprus should be considered as a major player in the linen and woolen cloth trade in the Mediterranean (13th15th centuries). The dynamism of the Catalan, Genoese and Venetian merchants was behind growth of trade and goods traffic. They exported the linen and woolen textiles from the main production centers in Western Europe to Cyprus : Champagne (Châlons-en-Champagne, Reims), Flanders (Wervicq and Kortrijk), Brabant (Mechelen and Leuven), northern Italy (Florence, Como, Milan), Languedoc (Narbonne, Limoux) and Catalonia (Barcelona, Valencia). A brief research in the Cypriot wardrobe testifies to the taste of the urban elites for the luxury fabrics. The cloth trade between western Europe and the eastern Mediterranean, categorized by the historiography as an unequal exchange, appears for the Cypriot case more like the result of the spreading of the western fashion
