The aim of this study is to analyse the main changes in the Brazilian field of music industry over time, the main actors that are included in this space and also its future prospect in the face of the current context of this industry in view of its main representatives. It adopts the method of qualitative research with a sectional temporal cut with longitudinal perspective. Bibliographical research and field data were carried out and data were analysed according to a descriptive-interpretative perspective, based on the theoretical framework formulated by Pierre Bourdieu. The results of this study allowed us to verify, among other things, that most actors directly linked to the music business has a pessimistic or at least very uncertain view about the future of the Brazilian music industry, which is mainly related to illegal downloading of music via the Internet
