Symbolic attitude and archetypal are probably two of the most frequently mentioned terms in Jungian analysis and in analytical training. How can one develop the capacity for symbolic thinking and for an appreciation of archetypal understanding? This paper will offer one possible answer to this question through the author’s personal experience in infant observation through a Jungian lens. Observing a baby boy during his first four months expanded the author’s understanding of Apollonian consciousness and Dionysian embodied experiences. Concepts of encountering, emergent self, archetypal embrace, and the archaic-magic realm are also amplified from various cultures and mythical stories
