The article examines patterns of implementation of the environmental regulation using economic instruments for environmental management in the countries and regions of North Asia. The trends of ecological and economic development and the practice of applying market instruments for environmental management are analyzed. An assessment was made of the level of compliance of the socioeconomic development of the North Asian regions of Russia with the principles of the green economy based on a content analysis of strategic development.
