Abstract: This study aims to make different focalizations about representing the concept of ruin through the photographic image in the nineteenth century. Certain speeches that appear both in the context in which those images as in more contemporary studies have reflected on the theme allow debris to investigate what means as aesthetic and iconographic element from the visual representation are performed. From this starting point, the article aims to establish a general taxonomy that serves to establish different criteria insight into what has been considered as a key instrument of the romantic ideal number. In turn, attempts to illustrate how different information of the covered pictures emerge in various scientific and cultural contextualization which tend to hybridize within the receptive panorama of those images. On the other hand, it is described as the concept of ruin is built from a temporary condition linked to an aesthetic experience in the profusion of images that protects, in its broadest sense, in the romantic trend called.
