This paper examines the role of visual representations in contemporary environmental struggles in Argentina, focusing on two devotional images: San Carpincho, associated with the burning of wetlands in the Paraná River Delta, and San Lobito de Mar, linked to offshore oil exploration and exploitation along the Argentine coast. These figures function as visual dispositifs that, through the affective register of tenderness, elevate the symbolic status of animals and aim to render visible otherwise obscured forms of environmental violence and conflict. The paper traces a potential visual genealogy connecting these images to natural history illustrations, national banknotes featuring native fauna, and the iconography of devotional prints. Through a transdisciplinary framework that draws from visual studies, environmental humanities, and political ecology, it is argued that such images may serve as instruments of awareness and resistance in the face of environmental harm. Furthermore, animals are not merely depicted; they are positioned as agents that actively confront the dynamics of the Capitalocene. In this context, visuality assumes a constitutive role in the articulation of emerging ecological narratives
