Tracing community dynamics in island environments presents particular complexities, as the unit of analysis tends to be the island as a whole. But how can we conceptualise the unit of analysis within the island itself? This paper aims to reflect on how communities were built across the landscape through the exploration of communal monumental architecture in Talaiotic Iron Age Menorca. Through the analysis of visual connectivity among monuments, we aim to explore how communities constructed their own landscapes while, at the same time, contributing to a connected island-wide landscape that may have shaped their identity as islanders. Using network analysis, we examine how regional visibility networks between Talaiotic monuments were formed across the island, creating a landscape of visual referents that served as both a guide and an identity marker for each community. In other words, we explore how architecture articulates a dual landscape dynamic at both the community and island levels, which may also have been related to different levels of identity within island communities
