In this article, the author defines several modes of the Nordic imaginary based on a case study in literary reception. The corpus is composed of articles on contemporary French-language literature in the Swedish press between 2010 and 2014. Building on recent research on borealism (Briens 2018) and the Nordic imaginary (Chartier 2018), this article examines the endogenous discourse on the North in order to identify its primary characteristics and functions. Several illustrative cases in the reception of French-speaking authors in the Swedish press serve as a basis for an exploration of the mechanisms involved when the Swedish internal discourse on the North intersects and interacts with external discourses from Francophone writers. The results contribute to clarifying the modes of interaction between exogenous and endogenous discourses on the North. This case study, which focuses in particular on the literatures of the South, allows the author to define three new modes of endogenous discourse on the North. The author proposes the notion of transnordic exogenous discourse to illustrate this particular aspect of borealism
