This article presents data collected from six North American Jewish overnight summer camps about how the terror attack in Israel on October 7 resulted in changes and innovations in religious rituals and ceremonies. What emerges is clear evidence that current events in Israel directly shaped how overnight Jewish summer camps conducted religious services in the summer of 2024. At times, the inclusion of new texts and traditions caused conflict, but their inclusion also revealed how religious meaning was construed in light of terrible events in Israel and how liturgical additions infused new meaning into religious expression
