The author discusses the occurrence of a “vibrant b” in a Northern Bantu area “between the Ubang and Congo Rivers”. This sound had hitherto been recorded in Zulu and Banda. He indicates “with an accompanying map” where it has been noticed, and records that while it belongs to the b- phoneme, it only occurs in combination with m “mb”, and then only when initial in words. He adds a short description of its formation and advocates phonetic instrumental investigation to establish definitely the phenomena counected with its enunciation
