The author of the present paper reexamines the intricate relation of the Achaean politicians Aratos the Elder and Aratos the Younger, as well as that of the latter’s wife Polycrateia, with Philip V king of the Macedonians. Considering the evidence, inasmuch as it can be verified, he comes to the conclu-sion that it does not justify the elaboration by Polybius of a drama implying major historical consequences
