The Renewal of a Ghanaian Rural Economy

Cet article examine les processus de renouvellement socioéconomique dans une communauté ghanéenne rurale, àla suite de changements au sein de l'économie nationale au début des années 1990. L'argument portant sur la manière dont les changements affectent les stratégies économiques rurales contemporaires, se concentre sur les processus locaux de restructuration sociale et économique qui ont accompagné le nouveau rôle de l'Etat dans l'économie domestique. Le renouvellement de l'économie rurale a consisté en la réémergence des cultures commerciales, du petit commerce de détail, d'une dépendance vis-`-vis des versements des revenus et des services des émigrants ainsi que leur investissement. Malgré les changements économiques actuels la solidarité se maintient au sein de la communauté et l'on s'efforce d'appliquer une certaine redestribution sociale des richesses. En conclusion, l'article explore les implications àlong terme des efforts actuels de l'Etat pour rajeunir l'économie rurale et la préparer au changement et au développement sociaux
