After having been in contact already in the third millennium BC, there were again maritime and overland relations between the cuneiform cultures of the Near East and India during the first millennium BC. The article presents evidence for direct contact and interaction between people from the Ancient Near East and India and examines the possibility of an intellectual exchange of ideas and knowledge
