In this work, I present the praxeological path of an Indigenous teacher training experience within the Intercultural Education program at UFG, in the field of intercultural linguistic education. I aim to demonstrate, through this experience, how Indigenous educators appropriate not only communicative practices in Portuguese language but also establish insurgent metadiscursive regimes in the process, which subvert structures produced by colonialism by indexicalizing the Portuguese language as a weapon for the defense of rights. Within this framework, I argue that such experiences and reflections can contribute to Southern perspectives in Applied Linguistics by placing the lived experiences and struggles of Indigenous peoples at the core of its theories and practices
