It is quite common among historians of Arabic logic to attribute MS Aḥmad iii, no. 3401, entitled Al-manṭiq al-kabīr (Major [book on] logic), to Fakhr al-Dīn Rāzī. This view is expressed explicitly and forcefully by Franziska Knobel (2015) and Turgut Akyüz and Elmin Aliyev (2020). In this paper, we try to refute this attribution through textual analysis, thereby exposing new evidence to the contrary. We show that the text has several references to Fakhr al-Dīn Rāzī himself as well as to some later logicians such as Rāzī’s pupil Zayn al-Dīn Kashshī and the latter’s successor Afḍal al-Dīn Khūnajī. We also show that contrary to some contemporary historians, all references to ‘kitābunā al-kabīr’ (‘our major book’) in Rāzī’s Sharḥ Al-ishārāt do not refer to Al-manṭiq al-kabīr, but to Al-mabāhith al-mashriqiyya
