The aim of this article is to highlight some of the causes that led to the increase of newreligious expressions in Latin America, which may be different or complementary to thehistorically dominant religion, Roman Catholicism. The research uses a procedural analysisto show how a process of religious conversion and mobility occurred in the region. This hasimplications for the social structure of countries, as well as community identity, the definitionof national history and religious faith, which adapts to the present-day needs of thepopulation
