The acceptance and use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in teaching depends on many factors, including culture. However, very little is known about the compatibility of Bhutanese culture, with ICT acceptance and use in teaching. Using a qualitative approach, this paper explored the influence of Bhutanese culture on teacher educators’ ICT acceptance and use in teaching. The participants were Bhutanese teacher educators recruited through purposive sampling. Data analysis found that the cultural factors such as gyelkhap lu tha dam tshig (commitment, integrity and dedication to nation), tenchingdrelwa (the interdependent collective nature of Bhutanese culture), zhenphen (the Buddhist value of selfless intent and action to help others) and cultural traits such as shyness, compatibility and openness inspired teacher educators to accept and use technology in teaching. However, the participants perceived that the existence of hierarchical power, mandatory ICT use and prescribed curriculum creates a rigid system that impedes teacher educators from using technology. The current study recommends relevant education stakeholders in Bhutan and beyond to consider cultural factors and use them as a catalyst to strengthen ICT integration in teaching
