In this article, Rika Gyselen considers the uneven appearance of mint marks on the Sasanian coins from Ardashir I to Yazdgerd I. Her proposal is that considering the importance of Pars as a centre of Sasanian power, and the location of most of their early inscriptions and reliefs, we must assume that the province also was home to Sasanian coin workshops. As such, through a study of the locations of Sasanian reliefs and inscriptions, and by considering the available mint marks and coin styles
