After the Arab-Muslim conquest (c. 650 CE), what we know of Middle Persian literacy in the territory known as rnahr is still little documented. Precisely, there is little evidence about linguistic developments during the first two centuries but for an extract allegedly written by ibn al-Muqaffa. Most of scholars' debate on this passage is based on the studied evidence -mainly, the inscriptions found on the south western part of the Sasanian empire. Sure enough, Pahlavi alphabet was still attested until the 11 th century, and not used only in Zoroastrian literature, but also in inscriptions, economic documents, coins and so on. On the other side, the earliest attestation of New Persian is in the 8 th century
