Ageism toward older adults is prevalent in Korean healthcare settings. However, not many studies have paid close attention to ageism in the dental hygiene field. Considering the increase in dental care demand among the older population, this study aims to investigate the association between anxiety about aging and ageism among future dental hygienists. Using a convenience sampling strategy, 146 online surveys were collected from Korean dental hygiene undergraduate students in Seoul and Daejeon, Korea. Four different measures of ageism were used as outcome variables: a total ageism score, prejudice, discrimination, and stereotypes. The predictor was anxiety about aging. Higher scores indicate higher ageism and lower anxiety. Multiple linear regression results show that aging anxiety is significantly associated with the total ageism score (p < .001), prejudice (p < .001), discrimination (p < .001), and stereotypes (p < .001). Participants who feel more anxious about aging were found to have a more ageist attitude toward older adults. The results suggest that aging anxiety is a possible driver of ageism among future dental hygienists. To address this issue, the national government should take the initiative to revamp the current gerontological education program. These efforts will help potential dental hygienists have a more informed understanding of aging and a positive attitude toward older people, which can improve the quality of dental care services
