L’articolo analizza l’intima connessione tra la religione e gli spazi verdi nell’ambito domestico romano, mettendo in luce come i giardini (da semplici orti a giardini del piacere) non fossero soltanto luoghi di svago o di manifestazione di status, ma veri e propri spazi sacri. Attraverso l’analisi delle fonti letterarie, archeologiche (soprattutto di ambito campano) e iconografiche, si evidenzia il ruolo centrale dei Lari e di specifiche divinità all’interno dei giardini delle domus, sottolineando il loro valore simbolico, protettivo e spirituale, grazie anche alla presenza dei larari
