This study utilizes thematic analysis to analyze content disseminated by Artificial Intelligence (AI) anchors. Researchers analyzed content from a private TV channel from Pakistan. The channel produces a news program that delivers content to viewers, but said content is delivered through broadcast anchors generated by AI. The findings are analyzed through the lens of the hierarchy of influences, which allows researchers to understand influences on content from multiple levels of analyses. The study not only illustrates why AI anchors pose a threat to journalism’s normative notions undergirding the field, but also how utilizing AI anchors opens avenues to non-journalistic actors to have increasing influence over news production
