Fred Halliday and Maxine Molyneux, The Ethiopian Revolution, London: Verso/NLB, 1981. Pp.304; £5.95. This review article provides a critique of The Ethiopian Revolution by Fred Halliday and Maxine Molyneux. It is argued that had the authors taken a firm position on the likely direction of the Revolution and pursued a more careful examination of the structural basis of Ethiopian society they might have avoided a number of errors and apparent contradictions, and also enhanced the coherence, analysis and synthesis of the book. While controversial for analysts and participants in the Ethiopian Revolution, the book is nevertheless recognized as an important contribution to Ethiopian studies. Notes London
