This paper investigates the political economy surrounding the introduction of Keynesian economic policy in Britain in 1941. It then goes on to discuss why the neoclassical synthesis variant of Keynesianism was consolidated and why other potentially more radical forms of Keynesianism were not pursued. In the discussion the view that there never was a Keynesian policy in Britain is rejected
