This scholarly study provides a unique and comprehensive review in the domain of set-jetting tourism based on the caché created by popular films, series, or novels. Using a semi-systematic literature review (SSLR) technique, a literature search yielded 116 scholarly sources for further analysis. The findings indicate that set-jetting scholarship belongs to a growing, interdisciplinary field; source material encompasses different media although dominated by film; and, while set-jetting scholarship covers multiple issues, research gaps and opportunities are indicated for the field. The study presents implications for destination managers and policymakers and recommends further inquiry into industry and policy practices around cultural tourism
