The "Punta del Monte 1 (PDM1)" archaeological site, is located on the border between the forest and the central-Patagonian steppe of Aysén (Chile). An industry in chipped pebbles in basalt and the systematic extraction of sheets, in shale and tuff, for large scrapers and choppers, are highly suggestive of the specialized work of the forest among the hunter gatherers of the Middle Holocene ~ 7-5 YBP. The functional analysis can be revealing in this regard, motivating experimental works on these raw materials, characterizing and comparing the micro-traces of use resulting from work on different materials like wood, leather and bone. Thus, the techno-morphological analysis and their relationship with experimentation and observation of micro-traces of use are presented. The develop of traces of use is faster in shale and basalt, which suggests increase studies on these raw materials frequently not considered "good for carving", but abounding in our forest contexts
