Considering its features, art has a close relationship with economic, cultural and political life.It entertains people and also has the power to influence them intellectually. Thus, art is also in the interest of political powers. For them, art is a tool that should be used by power. When the history of art is analyzed, it is seen that state or political-ideological forces instrumentalize art in line with their own goals. The reason for this instrumentalization, which includes every branch of art from painting to sculpture, from theater to cinema, undoubtedly stems from the power of art to influence the masses. The cinema, which's first screenings were made towards the end of the 19th century, has the opportunity to making more intense effect on large masses compared to other art branches because of its features. The sense of reality created by the cinema for the masses, has been used for the purpose of society and ideology which are intended by the political power.Every ideology which has wanted to create a new society has used cinema as an educational and propaganda instrument. On the other hand, theater art has drawn the attention of political powers since its existence. In every country where this art has been practiced since the ancient times, a mission has been installed to the theater and support has been wanted from it because of forming the society.Theatre has been given the task of training while entertaining and for this purpose it has been "taken under protection" by the power. How the theater should be and what it have to do have been determined by the dominant power, and who hasn't complied this has been punished. In this study, the aim is to show how the art is instrumentalized through the concept of dirigism, and the effects of 1980 coup on theater is tried to be clarified.Structured Abstract: Drigism which is expressed as "intervention of the state in a systematic way in the economic activity", was used primarily for production in particular, is now felt on the whole economic mechanism. When we look at the historical examples of Dirijism, which includes the markets, prices, monetary systems, credit and production volume, and even consumption problems at the present time, it is seen that it existed and was used for this purpose in order to organize economic staff and increase quality. This form of intervention, which is based on only economic foundations as a starting point, now shows its existence in all vital areas of society. From sports to politics, from economics to lifestyle, from the way of thinking to belief and art, dirijism finds itself a living space in every field in which human beings exist. The system makes these interventions established and managed by itself with its own ideological devices in the public or private area.Ideological devices are put into use by the government to focus on ideology and the education of society in the desired direction before oppression
