The platform economy is a growing research topic in the tourism sector, multifaceted and with important socio-political and economic implications. According to Tobler's geographical theory, this study conducts ambitious comparative research in 231 European cities, a number never reached in previous studies, to investigate whether digital platform tourism is cannibalising the tourist accommodation market. This study examines the spatial patterns of collaborative tourism demand by using Moran's – statistics and LISA cluster analysis. The results reveal the presence of geographic concentrations of cities with a similar degree of cannibalisation of tourism demand by P2P platforms, generating heterogeneous effects across European cities
