This article analyses the work of the US-Nicaraguan multimedia artist Ricardo Miranda Zúñiga, with a particular focus on his 2002 work, Vagamundo. Paying particular attention to the way in which this work engages with the trope of the border and with the representation of Mexican immigrants in the US imaginary, the article traces how the mobilizations of place-based tropes online, and the acting out of such tropes in real offline place, function to contest some of the established representations of the border and border-crossers
