This study is aimed at investigating the link between dance teachers’ attributed significance towards creativity promotion and their methodical-didactical approach in teaching for creativity. A mixed-method study was conducted. A teaching observation instrument was developed to analyse 16 videos from expert dance teachers, who taught creative dance in primary schools over a period of three months. Data from 131 questionnaires were extracted to evaluate the significance teachers attribute towards creativity promotion. The sample comprised 4 female and 2 male freelance dance teachers, aged between 19 and 53 years (M = 46.5 years). The descriptive findings revealed that creative dance teachers support creativity promotion. Correlations showed that the higher teachers rate the significance of promoting creativity, the more they value the promotion of productivity (r = .404, p < .001), problem-solving (r = .241, p < .001) and originality (r = .200, p < .001). However, the analyses of the video data indicated that their teaching practice is only partially geared towards fostering creativity. Regression analyses showed that their teaching practice is affected by the value they attach to creativity promotion. In conclusion, teachers’ attributed significance towards creativity promotion plays an important role in their way of teaching
