Population aging has driven the development of the so-called silver economy, which interprets longevity as an economic opportunity associated with well-being and autonomy in old age. This article critically analyzes the role played by physical activity and sport in this context, focusing on the socio-economic, cultural, and territorial inequalities that condition access to and participation in these activities in Latin America. Based on a theoretical and documentary review, it examines approaches to active and healthy ageing, the expansion of sport as an emerging market, and its distributive tensions. The results show that the commodification of physical activity tends to reproduce pre-existing inequalities, limiting active ageing conceived exclusively from a market perspective
