The purpose of this work is to address the links and contrasts between the science fiction novel The fabulous dream machine, the cultural malaise proposed by Sigmund Freud and the dystopia understood in the era of cyberspace. Told from fragments, this atypical novel, in our literary tradition, engages in a tense dialogue and distances itself from The interpretation of dreams based on another unstable vision of the unconscious and the role of fantasy or dreams in our time. To carry out this analysis, we not only start from Freud's theoretical postulates about dreams, the unconscious and discomfort, but also from the poetics of literary dystopias, the aesthetics of the fragment and the model of the third unconscious postulated by Franco Berardi
