This study aimed to identify social problems in pharmacy regency through a theoretical and empirical analysis. A qualitative and descriptive approach was adopted, by using the case study method. The information was collected through literature review and focus groups, analyzed by data triangulation. Four problems were identified: weaknesses in the management of health technologies, difficulties in the incorporation of innovations in pharmaceutical logistics, lack of an ecosystemic vision, by connecting the pharmaceutical industry with the health sector, and undervaluation of the role of the technologist outside the pharmaceutical services. It was concluded that it is essential that these professionals adopt a proactive posture, by promoting safe practices in patient care
