Palavras-chave: Fernando Pessoa; A educação do estoico; morte.Abstract: In Fernando Pessoa’s A Educação do Estoico (2001), in the suicidal character, desolation by failure is observed. The story promotes a mirroring effect between creator and creature, which in a certain way configure an aesthetic that refuses life and envisions death. Takes the sense of Eduardo Lourenço(1981), in which death denies the fantastic nature of reality and balances itself in the point where the truth and the fantasy are revoked. The Baron of Teive demonstrates the impotence of non-fulfillment related to the unfinished work and the love life, which also did not take place, and announces the extermination itself as a solution. Hopelessness is also perceived implicitly in criticizing the society in which it lives. Along with Jorge de Sena’s idea(1974) when he states that Fernando Pessoa courts death for many years, this study moves forward in the investigation of external possibilities underlying the representation of death in the work of Baron de Teive. The path of reading and analysis tries to identify links between this written production, associating it with other works, and with the life of the poet, assuming that the aesthetics of death reflects shadows of a psychic state of sadness and exile. Historical failures are potential specular devices that motivate the configuration of this character, which is expressed in emptiness and the extinction of being. The disintegration of the vital element, which integrates the word into the poetic horizon, seems to be the instrument of expression of exile. The mirroring of Barão de Teive is reconstructed in the wake of Richard Zenith (2001), who considers him the most representative character of the poet and intellectual Fernando Pessoa. Keywords: Fernando Pessoa; A Educação do Estoico; death
