The Brazilian Portuguese as Heritage Language (is a particularity that is characterized by a context in which the used language and culture are taught to the migrant child. The objective of this research is to investigate beliefs and attitudes of the researcher’s Brazilian mother and of the researcher himself, who was born in Syria, which contributed to the integration into the language-culture of the Brazilian Portuguese from his childhood and adolescence to his adulthood, considering the plurilingual family context of Arabic, Portuguese and English. This work is theoretically based on the studies of Mendes (2011; 2012) and Almeida Filho (2011; 2013), pioneering authors on the teaching of Portuguese as an Additional Language. The studies of Moroni (2017), Yonaha (2017) and Pereira (2017), researchers on Heritage Language (HL), are also considered. This research is qualitative in nature, exploratory and descriptive, with data collection through autoethnographic narrative, to explore its own trajectory of linguistic formation, and semi-structured interview; the organization, treatment and analysis occurs according to content analysis (BARDIN, 1977). The main results are: the identification and perseverance of the mother's beliefs and attitudes, noting the importance of passing on the cultural heritage of the minority language to the child; as well as using the natural context to reinforce their contact with the language. However, for the son, the initial belief (of not valuing his LH) and the change in it are identified, considering the motivations of the mother and the child throughout the trajectory. The affectivity is always present in the cognitive processes related to the learning of an HL, which should not be avoided or feared, as it is a form of affective nutrition
