In recent years, transdisciplinary art-science collaborations have proliferated across all fields, from biology and ecology to social and economic sciences, blending rationalist and nonrationalist approaches to foster creative, systemic and holistic thinking. However, despite their recent rise, few studies examine how these collaborations can support a just and equitable transition towards postextractive futures. Through a semi-structured interview and content analysis of materials provided by artists Solimán López and Tabita Rezaire, this article explores how the intersections of art, science and technology can encourage ecosocial and ethical behaviour, enhancing our understanding of the relationships between humans and non-humans while promoting new narratives. The analysed artworks illustrate how the interplay between the symbolic and the real can foster the creation of new relational aesthetics, guiding us towards more equitable postcapitalist paradigms. Finally, drawing on Édouard Glissant’s Philosophy of the Relation and Arturo Escobar’s Pluriverse Design, this article emphasizes the relational nature of transdisciplinary collaborations, which compels us to rethink the dominant idea of culture from a relational perspective – one that values encounters with the other and stimulates the emergence of decolonial imaginaries based on less competitive, more egalitarian and cooperative values
