A complex of black- glazed pottery of West Slope style from Tanais is dated to the 3rd and the 2nd centuries BC. The production of Attic and Asia Minor workshops, predominantly of Pergamon, is represented. The latter workshops prevail. The motives are relatively diverse given the small overall number of fragments. However, in comparison with other poleis the number of shapes and ornaments on the fragments is significantly smaller. This singularity can be explained by the chronology and the geographical position of Tanais, as well as by a relatively modest volume of research of early city layers
