The essay aims to examinate the Italian historiography published for the centenary of the “Fiume endeavor” led by Gabriele d’Annunzio. The analysis of the most significant works published during the anniversary allows to reconstruct the paths of the main interpretations and the influence that national memories had on them, identifying new research perspectives and unsolved problems. The purpose of the article is to provide tools that could contribute to a new debate by a transnational perspective
