Resumo
This article argues that the concept of economy, typically understood as economization or efficient allocation of resources, is no longer adequate for understanding contemporary economic processes. Mitchell suggests that calculations of economic value have become increasingly complex and entangled with non-economic factors, such as social and political considerations. He proposes that we move beyond the traditional notion of economy as economization and embrace a broader understanding that encompasses the diverse and often contradictory ways in which value is created and distributed.
