This article proposes the concept of «guerrilla diplomacy» to analyze the actions of Marxist-Leninist organizations during the Cold War in Latin America and the Caribbean. The objective is to recover the agency of non-state actors through a term that focuses on these groups' international activities. The method is grounded in Leninist theses concerning the «minimum program» and the «national front», by analyzing their application in a strategic phase —relations with the socialist camp— and a tactical phase —alliances with the democratic-bourgeois opposition—. The main characteristics of these practices, as well as the factors influencing them, are identified. This problematization is useful for explaining the specific articulations between the local and the global, avoiding the reduction of insurgent strategies to mere copies of other models
