Grounded by Indigenous knowledge systems and oral history (story), an Indigenous approach to knowledge sharing, First-Generation Stories demonstrated asset-based research centered on first-generation students’ voices. The storytellers confirmed the importance of family and community to their college journeys and discussed how family and community support manifested as they prepared to attend and persisted in college. This project also highlighted the knowledge first-generation students carry and their inherent nature to reach back to future generations
