Nel 467, il quaestor sacri palatii Isocasio fu accusato di paganesimo e, per questa ragione, condotto dinanzi alla corte del praefectus praetorio Orientis Puseo; riuscì a salvarsi solo accettando il battesimo. Nonostante le apparenze, l’episodio non può essere ridotto a un semplice conflitto religioso, ed offre lo spunto per una più generale riflessione sui rapporti tra pagani e cristiani nell’impero romano d’Oriente intorno alla metà del V secolo
