This article is the result of reflections arising from a research master’s degree still in development on the imbrications between religion and humor in what concerns the area of discourse analysis. We analyse a pseudo-preaching of Bishop Arnaldo, false religious leader responsible for the humor sketch “Igreja Evangélica Pica das Galáxias”. We mainly use the Semiolinguistic Theory as a theoretical and methodological reference. Our analysis pointed to the use of humor as part of a wider argumentative project
