This paper intends to demonstrate the Freuds inheritance with Schopenhauer regarding the conception of will and sexual love developed by the second and incorporated, with reformulations, by the first in both topics. We also intend to demonstrate that there is a relationship between the two authors regarding the way they both understand death: Schopenhauer distinguish between a merely empirical death and an idealistic death, which resembles the Freudian concept of Todestrieb. In addition, we understand that, in the reformulation of the Freudian topic, there are not only requirements external to the work, such as the advent of the First World War or clinical cases, but also a common thread that resumes with a theorization already present since the Project and which would have left in shadow in the first topic to reappear in its centrality in Beyond the Pleasure Principle, which is the "principle of inertia" or "principle of nirvana". Finally, we expose how Schopenhauer presents four outlets in his work for a better and less destructive life, the fourth of which also has a dimension that resembles psychoanalysis: eudemonology
