The article is focused on the description of the relations between relatives by marriage in the dialect world view of the Kuban region inhabitants. It demonstrates that the most vivid depiction of their linguacultural perception of relations by marriage category can be represented by the archetypic opposition friend or foe. It determines that relationship terms acquire the conceptual characteristics of a friend in the dialect speakers by means of contextual and semantical support, due to their use as a part of paroemia and through lexical, grammatical and word-building means. It determines the duality of relations between relatives by marriage which demonstrates both, retention of stereotype images and scenarios of real life situations and transformation thereof. It proves that, from the ethnocultural point of view, relevant information is communicated via categorization of certain notions of this characteristic by means of concept building features important to the Kuban sub-dialect speakers. It demonstrates that peripheral area is filled with set expressions used for distant relatives nomination, with their main pragmatic feature being the vivid expression of ironic connotation. The conclusion is that the system of relations between relatives by marriage combines both the long-present and transformed linguacultural perception of family and marital relationships among village residents of the Kuban region
