The aim of the study is to summarize the experience of mass radio broadcasting in the Buryat ASSR in 1970– 1973. The analysis of the state of scientific development showed that the specific problem of the history of mass radio broadcasting in Buryatia posed in this work has not become the subject of a comprehensive analysis within the selected chronological period. Consequently, the relevance of the topic of this scientific work is based on the needs of historical science itself, since it has not been sufficiently developed to date. The materials of the study were documents that belong to the fund R-1051 of the State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting of the Council of Ministers of the Buryat ASSR of the State Archives of the Republic of Buryatia. The novelty of the work is determined by the introduction of new sources into scientific circulation. They are based on the regional documents studied by the author, containing microphone folders with radio broadcast texts. The work uses the principles of historicism, objectivity and consistency, the method of retrospective analysis and the problemchronological approach. The subjects of the broadcasts were dictated by large-scale propaganda campaigns in connection with the 100th anniversary of V. I. Lenin, the 50th anniversary of the formation of the USSR and other anniversaries. The Buryat Radio Committee was searching for new forms and genres promoting musical and artistic culture to the masses, to the rural hinterlands of the republic and beyond. We conclude that the reduction of the Buryat Radio Committee’s own broadcasting from 5 to 3 hours a day undertaken by the USSR State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company in 1973 ran counter to its plans for the further development of mass radio broadcasting in the republic in the Russian and Buryat languages. The practical significance of the study is determined by the need to generalize the historical experience of radio broadcasting in Buryatia, the materials and results of which can be used in creating works on the history and culture of the Far East. Prospects for further research into the history of radio broadcasting in Buryatia are associated with the identification and systematization of new historical facts, expansion of the source base and historiography
