The analysis of the meaning of sentences allows us to discover the semantic value of smaller linguistic units, such as nominal determiners and plural morphemes. These are some of the elements that form the semantic structure of sentences. Furthermore, constructions such as conditional clauses and modal verbs impact the relationship between propositional content and the representation of the world. In order to appreciate the importance of considering the sentence level in describing the semantic value of linguistic elements, I present language facts that originally posed challenges for philosophers and mathematicians. Subsequently, I briefly outline the approaches to meaning developed in Linguistics previous to the emergence of sentential Semantics. Finally, I address Semantics within the field of Linguistics, as build upon the philosophical– mathematical foundations. Within this framework, I provide evidence for the indispensable role of the sentence level in semantic analysis
