Resumo

This article explores the anthropological debate surrounding new reproductive technologies (NRTs). It critiques the tendency within anthropology to focus on the sociocultural implications of NRTs through the lens of kinship, thereby neglecting the embodied experiences of women and the broader political-economic context. The authors argue that the focus on "virgin births" and the supposed disruption of traditional kinship structures obscures the complex power dynamics and inequalities embedded within the development and application of NRTs. They call for a more nuanced approach that considers the social, political, and economic forces shaping reproductive practices and experiences.
