Rural sociology is essentially an attempt to understand and interpret human relationship by confining itself to the scientific study of that majority group of society who live in areas which are primarily rural. It is gradually emerging from the "problem stage" to that of the more rational approach to rural social phenomena in their various phases viewed in the light of modern social thought. The varied circumstances under which the subject must be taught necessitates different types of treatment. The development of the subject matter in this field is dependent upon the progress of extended reliable research, which now appears to be at hand
